You will find information on our programs, community connections and events, as well as what is coming up! For 15 years Neighborhood Connections has served as a beacon of hope in the mountain towns of southern Vermont. From helping residents who suffered home losses during last year’s flooding, to providing time-sensitive rides for people with medical appointments, we are here to support our neighbors in need. As we prepare for the next 15 years, we’d be remiss if we didn’t recognize the area’s clearest demographic trends: we are one of the fastest aging areas in what is already one of the oldest states in the nation. That means that issues surrounding senior social isolation, nutrition and heating needs, income insecurity, and medical service delivery systems are pressing needs now. In response, Neighborhood Connections has already assumed responsibility for local Meals on Wheels operations, sponsored ongoing classes in senior wellness such as Bone Builders and Tai Chi for Falls Prevention, and is examining ways to provide support to caregivers and those challenged with early-stage dementia. As a non-profit social service agency, Neighborhood Connections relies on the support of the households in the communities it serves to continue helping those in need. We invite you to read through our quarterly newsletter, and join us at one of our upcoming events. Sincerely, Thom Thom Simmons Executive Director |
